The Challenge
A rapidly-growing communications company was experiencing numerous growth pains. The company set out to enhance cost management and efficiency of its contingent workforce. Six different operating divisions were working with more than 100 staffing services in a variety of skill specialties, without the benefit of unified oversight and control. The division management teams were reluctant to give up control and option over which staffing firms they used and how.
The Action Plan
Working with the company’s joint task team made up of Human Resources, Purchasing, Accounting and Division Managers, Pro Staff customized and implemented its proven managed service provider solution for recruiting, hiring, and managing more than 200 long-term contract and temporary employees in positions ranging from administrative roles to accounting, IT, engineering, and technical assembly.
The Objectives:
- Showcase the company as an “Employer of Choice” in the community using recruitment advertising and strategic sourcing
- Successfully manage specialized contingent staffing suppliers with no disruption to the business
- Seamlessly implement a new contingent hiring process in an organization with a history of local department control
- Demonstrate quantifiable results, including quality improvements and cost reductions.
Pro Staff gathered lists of all approved vendors, scheduled one-on-one meetings, provided them with new procedures, identified opportunities for improved communication, and collaborated to ensure the company and vendor needs were being met. Implementing on-line checklists and validation of contractor screening prior to the start of an assignment was a key HR priority. Pro Staff also created and delivered a customized orientation for all incoming talent. For purchasing and accounting, Pro Staff drove bill rate consistency and provided consolidated invoicing and reporting.
The Results
